API Integration
The mechanism by which an ERP, LMS or payment gateway exchanges data automatically with other software systems.
API integration lets separate software systems — an ERP, a payment gateway, a biometric device, an SMS provider — exchange data automatically rather than requiring manual export and import. For an institution, this means a fee payment made through a gateway can update the ERP's ledger in real time, without an accounts staff member reconciling reports at month-end.
